erik nitsche

I absolutely adore and hold my hand to my chest to this guy. He always hits the layout nail, smack bang on the head.
But WOW! Do we revisit everything? Yes. Same principles? Totes.

Nitsche is well known for some equisite book and report book design around 50 years ago. 50. You heard it. And I must say..he's delicious. So, how far has design really come? Have our brains evolved or do we just make things a little shinier these days by dusting the top of it?
As well as absolutely lusting after the perfection smoking from Nitsche's work, I'm also a little confused as to where we have come from and why we revisit absolutely everything time and time again? Well, I know where we come from, it's easy, look at our past. It's hard to get lost in time because we evolve like a child dragging it's feet in the sand. We'll never get lost. Are we like a fat kid eating cake? Are we just stuffing our faces with all the things we love and gradually getting bigger and bigger? I must admit, I'm a sucker for classics and inspirations drawn from super-shit hot publications, we all are. We rip anything we can. That's what we do. We take and improve or we take completely screw it and tear it apart. I don't know. Everything comes from somewhere. Slowly we've moved from grass to glass and as pretty as it all may be, we can still see through it. It's fascinating seeing how worn the track around the 8 is. I love it. All of the things that are beautiful in life, we soak ourselves in. Bathe in the tub of beauty. It feels so good. Would we live in space by now if we let go of this for a little while? What else is beautiful?....
